WAFFLE
WARFARE

How to play

Shoot the Burnt. Spend the syrup. Do not stand still.

1. Click the screen to lock the mouse. Mouse aims, left click fires, right click aims down the sights. Esc releases it and pauses.
2. Waves land on the coast. Before each one the horizon goes orange on one, two or three named shores — the radio calls them, and the rim of the minimap lights up on those bearings. That is where they are wading in from, and everywhere else is your back.
3. Heads count double or better. Every weapon has a headshot multiplier. The little tick in the middle of the screen tells you when you connected.
4. Between waves the armory opens. Press B to spend syrup on guns, ammo, plating and permanent upgrades. You can open it mid-wave too — the Burnt will not wait.
5. Don't wait if you don't want to. Press Enter during the lull to call the next wave in early, and keep twelve syrup for every second you hand back.
6. Rocket jump. The Waffle Cannon's blast throws you. Look straight down and fire at your own feet for roughly twice a normal jump; jump first and fire on the way up for three times it, high enough to land on the low roofs. Fire at the ground behind you while sprinting and you will cover thirty units in one leap. It costs about eighteen health each time.
7. Pick things up. Waffles heal, crates refill ammo, green plates are armor, and a golden waffle gives you fourteen seconds of double damage and infinite ammo.
8. Break the nests. Some waves plant a burning iron inland. It never stops making Crisps and Scalds, and the wave will not end while it stands — so you cannot win by backing into a corner. Follow the orange column, or the diamond on the minimap.
9. Hold the square. Some waves put a town square in play. Stand inside the ring for twenty-four seconds while they try to take it off you. It pays syrup, plating and a second perk card.
10. Build where you stand. F plants an iron barricade in front of you, G plants a griddle turret that shoots for you. They wear down under pressure, so put them where the pressure is going to be.
11. Know your enemy. Crisps charge you. Blobs lob batter that slows you and split in two when they die. Griddlers hide behind a cast-iron plate — flank them, the shield only faces one way. Flits hover out of reach and dive. Iron Brutes shrug off almost everything except the glowing vent on their back.
12. And the new ones. Scalds run at you glowing and explode — and they explode when you kill them too, so shoot the one in the middle of the pack. Pourers lay burning syrup on the ground to decide where you are allowed to stand. Keepers carry a blue brazier; everything inside their ring takes a fraction of your damage and heals — kill the Keeper or kill nothing. Steepers paint a long pink laser on you from far away. It tracks, then locks red, then hits very hard. Move, or hit them hard enough to break the aim.
13. Wave ten is the Grand Iron. Four glowing clamps hold it shut and the body is armoured until they are gone. Break all four, then put everything you have into the core.
14. Use the buildings. Bullets do not go through walls — theirs or yours. The towns are cover.
15. The Locker. Every finished run pays crates — more for going deep, more every time you level. Open them for weapon finishes, courier outfits and tracer rounds; duplicates melt into Batter, which buys more crates. Every crate shows its exact odds before you open it, and none of it is for sale. Nothing in the locker changes how anything shoots.
